When:

QUT Ninjutsu holds classes on Monday.

 Monday Session: 7.00pm - 8.30pm

 Please arrive 15 minutes early.

 Always check the QUT Ninjutsu Facebook page for up-to-date information on classes and last minute cancellations. 

 If you are interested in trying a class please RSVP through the contact form. You can also message QUT Ninjutsu through the Facebook page.
Where:

 Training is held at a public park at the QUT Kelvin Grove Campus.

What to bring and wear:

 Loose comfortable clothing, running shoes and a bottle of water.

Pricing:

Membership to QUT Ninjutsu carries a yearly membership fee of $25 to cover public liability insurance. 

Classes cost $15 per session.
Holiday dates:

 No training takes place between these dates. The dates represent the first and last days of training.

 Friday 19th December 2016 - Friday 9th January 2017.

Martial Arts have always been a niche skill. In the middle ages only Nobles and the wealthy could afford to dedicate any time to martial pursuits. The Best Defence is a good Offence

The adage 'the best defence is a good offence' has echoed through history in various forms and has appeared in writings from Machiavelli to Sun Tzu. Also known as the strategic offensive principle of war, it states that active offensive action instead of a passive attitude will pressure the opposition and hinder counter offensives, which lead to strategic advantage.  Although this is a well known concept, many martial arts around the world prefer to focus on reactive defence for one reason or another. In Judo for instance, I was told that Judo (for self-defence) is the 'Gentle Way' and should not be used to attack - ever. In Aikido there is a similar mentality, wait for the opponent to attack and use their power against them. This Wednesday's session is permanently cancelled due to a scheduling clash. Classes will now be held on Fridays from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. I know it is not the most convenient time but I hope this new schedule is not too much trouble. In the Monday class we covered basic breathing techniques, flexibility, podiatry, good skeletal alignment, sanshin (basic strikes), bo (basic stances, moving between stances), sword drawing (iaijutsu), countering sword  from the draw, and basic muto-dori (unarmed against sword). Friday will be our first Friday session since the club disbanded in 2010. I hope to see you all there. Other news: I will start putting up posters at UQ, Griffith, and other University campuses so that we can get more members. Direct from Japan: Class prices have been increased to $15 up from $12.
